White Plains, NY

Westchester County offers a wide range of housing options, all located within reach of Manhattan, via the Metro North Commuter Railroad. Nestled between the Long Island Sound to the East and the Hudson River to the West, this beautiful geographic area north of the City is anchored by the exciting City of White Plains where metropolitan living is at its best. High rise buildings offer stunning apartments for rental and sale within a five minute walk to the train station where local and express commuter trains whisk you into Manhattan in 25 minutes. Have dinner and a movie, jump on a train and you will be home before you can finish reading your email! In addition to apartments in White Plains, other housing options in the White Plains area range from homes in lake communities where you share neighborhood barbeques and cheer on your swim team to sophisticated contemporaries in nearby Armonk.

Long Island Sound Communities

Homes on the Long Island Sound are located in communities such as Rye, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, and New Rochelle may offer golf, swimming and tennis as part of your town recreational activities. These great Westchester walking towns offer eclectic shops and restaurants where you can take advantage of all that life has to offer. Enjoy sunrise on your boat anchored in one of the town slips that are available to residents. Homes near the beach in Rye range from gorgeous mansions to small family enclaves of smaller homes where kids play hockey in the streets and walk to their local elementary schools. Commuters enjoy a short trip of between 30 and 40 minutes into Grand Central Terminal.

River Towns

Crossing the county to the West, Hudson River homes are always in demand. Winding along the river, Route 9 is the main thoroughfare through these “River Towns” which include Yonkers, Hastings on Hudson, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, Scarborough, Ossining and Croton on the Hudson. This historic area is filled with weekend art shows, family events, antique shows, farmers markets and seasonal food fairs. Homes in the River Towns range in style and price and the Hudson Line of Metro North stretches along the river and takes between 30 and 50 minutes to commute into Manhattan. The majestic Hudson River is the heart of each community, boasting waterfront properties and townhouse developments as well as sleepy neighborhoods filled with homes of every style, supporting your local shops and restaurants is part of the fabric of River Town life and neighbors meet neighbors over locally roasted coffee and delicious creations by a growing population of talented and creative chefs opening storefront cafes and restaurants.

North Country

Not to be forgotten are the central and northern Westchester communities of Armonk, Chappaqua, Mt. Kisco, Bedford, Bedford Hills, Katonah, Goldens Bridge and Somers. Served by the Harlem line of Metro North, commuting times range from 30 to 60 minutes. Land is in abundance here, with many Northern Westchester homes offering 1-2 acre zoning and the horse farms in North Salem are truly beautiful. Horse trails wind among antique homes that are hundreds of years old. Bedford, Pound Ridge and Lewisboro also have a wealth of mid century contemporary homes mixed in with traditional colonials and capes. Caramoor International Music Festival and the Katonah Museum of Art are community favorites and attract many visitors to the area. It is not unusual to find local residents living in farm houses in Westchester County who grow organic vegetables and sell their produce at local farmers markets that are held in almost every local village and town.
